  • Public Invited to “Manifest Greatness, Apollo 8” Presentation at the Space Foundation Discovery Center on Wednesday, Dec. 12
  • First in Series Celebrating Apollo Mission 50th Anniversaries

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 10, 2018) – The Space Foundation invites the public to its Discovery Center in Colorado Springs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8’s pioneering lunar adventure. Join other space and history fans to remember, reflect and reignite the inspiration of a Christmas-season journey that united the world in wonder. “Manifest Greatness, Apollo 8” will be presented at the Discovery Center on Dec. 12, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Presenter for the evening will be Space Foundation Space Education Manager Elias Molen.

“Manifest Greatness, Apollo 8” relives the epic events of the 1968 Christmas season,” said Molen. “This is the first event in our series at the Discovery Center commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo missions. Apollo 8 was a first in many areas –the first to launch humans on the most powerful rocket ever built. The first to send human beings to the Moon. The first to bring a live message of encouragement to the people of Earth.”

Learn more about that live message and how it was received worldwide by attending “Manifest Greatness, Apollo 8.” Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., with an hour to explore the Discovery Center exhibits, watch an Apollo-themed Science On a Sphere® presentation and enjoy hors-d’oeuvres. The “Manifest Greatness, Apollo 8” presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Admission for the evening is half-off of regular Discovery Center admission and includes all of the above activities.
