Space Foundation Increases Participation at 67th International Astronautical Congress

This fall, the Space Foundation will send its largest delegation to the 67th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico, Sept. 26-30. Chief Executive Officer Elliot Pulham will lead a team representing the Space Foundation’s policy, corporate services, customer relations and New Generation Space Leaders programs to conduct a number of special activities at the IAC.

“The IAC is an important venue and the relative ease of traveling to Guadalajara is allowing us to send a strong and larger-than-usual team to support our customers and IAF activities,” said Steve Eisenhart, Senior Vice President – Strategic and International Affairs. “Additionally, as an organization which also conducts a global space conference, participating in the IAC will provide valuable professional development we can bring back in the execution of the Space Symposium.”

The delegation will support meetings of the General Assembly, the Host’s Summit, the Space Education and Outreach Committee, the Space Museums and Science Centers Committee and the Young Professionals program.

During the 67th IAC, the Space Foundation will conduct several ‘by invitation’ events, including co-hosting a special partnership luncheon with the Chinese Society of Astronautics on Sept. 26. It will also co-sponsor a reception with the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Also on Wednesday, the Space Foundation will host the semi-annual meeting of the U.S.-German Aerospace Roundtable (UGART) in association with the German Space Agency (DLR).

Bernadette Maisel, director of the Space Foundation’s Customer Relations, and Megan Owen, manager of Speakers and Programs, have been selected to participate in the SGAC’s Space Generation Congress, which precedes the IAC and the Young Professional Workshop. In addition to Pulham and Eisenhart, Vice President of Washington Operations Brendan Curry will lead a session of the UGART. Rhonda Truett, director of Global Sales, rounds out the delegation, and will be meeting with customers throughout the Congress.
