HazNet - All Hazards Network

Supported through NASA Small Business Innovative Research Contracts, the NASA Dual-Use technology transfer program, and NASA’s Innovative Partnership Program HazNet is a web-based, all-hazards, emergency management system.

Jointly developed using existing technologies including essential satellite imaging, HazNet is the result of over 5 years of research and over 200,000 hours of operational testing of Graphic Information Systems (GIS) -based common operating pictures for emergency operations centers. Incorporating the Department of Homeland Security Incident Command System (ICS) HazNet is an important tool for planning, response, and recovery to any sized crisis.

NASA uses a highly customized version of the HazNet to protect the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi as part of its new Emergency Operations Center and will support the NASA Michoud facility in Louisiana. NASA Headquarters purchased HazNet agency‐wide to protect all major bases.
