Space Foundation Team Aims High In keeping with the Space Foundation mission to “advance space-related endeavors to inspire, enable, and propel humanity,” team members continuously work to improve their skills and professionalism. The following Space Foundation team members have recently received recognition:

Erin Gorman, education assistant, has earned a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Gorman performs administrative functions in support of the education team and assists with education outreach efforts. She began working part time for the Space Foundation 15 months ago and, since completing her degree, is now on board full time.

Bobby Gagnon, aerospace education specialist, has earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in space studies from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Gagnon has worked for the Space Foundation for two years and was previously a public school teacher for eight years. As an aerospace education specialist, Gagnon teaches educators through the Space Across the Curriculum courses; heads the Space Foundation Teacher Liaison program; and writes space-related lessons for teachers to use in their classrooms. He monitors trends in the space industry and serves as a liaison between the industry and the education field.

Chris DeGrant, director, events & plans, has attained certification from the Convention Industry Council as a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP). The CMP designation is based on professional experience and a rigorous examination and demonstrates that an individual is dedicated to the profession, reflecting expertise in planning, managing, and executing successful meetings and events. To quality for application as a CMP, individuals must have a proven history of experience in meeting management, show proof of participation in continuing education, have membership in a professional organization, and make professional contributions to the field. DeGrant manages logistics for the annual National Space Symposium, and has worked for the Space Foundation for six years.
