Space Foundation Scholarship Recipients Share Space Lessons

The Florida Association of Science Teachers (FAST) held a conference this fall, themed “STEM-U-Lating Science.” During the conference, two previous winners of a Space Foundation teachers scholarship led a session for 43 educators, sharing a lunar shelter engineering design challenge. Donnika Jones and Robin Little were awarded the Space foundation’s Dr. Catherine Pedretty Space Scholarship for Teachers, available only to Florida educators. Jones is a 4th and 5th grade teacher at the Douglas L. Jamerson, Jr., Elementary School Center for Mathematics and Engineering in St. Petersburg. Little is a Safety Harbor Elementary School teacher.

Jones and Little used their learning from attending Space Across the Curriculum courses in Colorado Springs to teach space-themed lessons in their classrooms and to other teachers at the FAST Conference.
