Senate Bill Reduces DoD Appropriations

Written by: developer

Senate Bill Reduces DoD Appropriations The Senate Appropriations Committee passed its Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 Defense Appropriations bill, which includes $513 billion in spending - $25.9 billion less than the president requested and $13 billion less than the amount passed by the House of Representatives. The Senate Appropriations Committee stated the cuts were made as a result of "program terminations or delays, changes to policies or programs since submission of the budget in February 2011, inadequate justification or corrections to poor fiscal discipline in the Department of Defense."

The bill awaits a vote by the full Senate.

The Space Foundation has updated its U.S. Defense space-based and related systems FY 2012 budget comparison document to include the Senate Appropriations Committee proposed FY 2012 Defense Appropriations bill. That comparison is available here.
